MEET THE DESIGNER

Growing up, I was always interested in art and fashion. If I wasn't reading a book, I was probably making something out of whatever clothing I had on hand. At one point, my mother caught me making a new outfit for my doll out of an old one. People often ask where my interest in fashion came from, but it's just something that's always been with me.

In high school, my good grades landed me a scholarship to go to the Summer College for High School Students at Syracuse University. It was there that my dreams of becoming a doctor were replaced by dreams of becoming a fashion designer when I learned more about the industry during an internship with an apparel company during my freshman year.

I graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Fashion Design and a minor in Entrepreneurship & Emerging Enterprises at the Whitman School of Business, where I studied abroad at London College of Fashion. While there, I received recognition for my work in draping and took classes in pattern-making, design history and theory, fabric construction, sewing techniques, and much more.

My knack for quality construction and tailoring shows an appreciation for engineering; self-expression drives my custom design production; take the metaphor: the wearer as a messenger, fashion as a medium; we all have a story to be told through fashion - where you're from, where you're going; your culture, ideals... who you are. It has the ability to break barriers - language and otherwise - and communicate more accurately than words themselves!

My portfolio collections reflect my personal journey through life and the world around me. I enjoy contrast just as much as cohesion, which is reflected in my designs. Each piece holds great importance for me--for without it, the story wouldn't be the same.
